More than 750 of you signed an Open Letter to the Gelson’s developer to reduce its huge, unpopular project at the corner of Lincoln and Ocean Park Blvds. Our mayor and several councilmembers have also joined in signing; an unprecedented show of support for a better project at an intersection the City has long identified as “failing”.
This is one of the biggest projects of its type ever proposed for Santa Monica. It is poorly conceived, out of scale with the neighborhood, and disregards how it will affect traffic, water usage, lack of open space, and City infrastructure.
Our community Open Letter to the developer was published in the Daily Press on Monday: See www.smclc.net/gelsons
The developer (Cypress Equity) has more than a dozen projects in the pipeline in Santa Monica. It’s a partner in our community. It needs to step up and be a responsible corporate citizen, one that acts on residents’ concerns instead of steamrolling the process.
Stay tuned and thank you for joining with us – together we will make a difference.
