In just ONE week the Santa Monica Transparency Project volunteers must turn in their petitions for Council Term Limits so the signatures can be counted to put this important measure on the November ballot, limiting councilmembers to three terms (12 years) going forward.
The power of incumbency in our city has been extraordinary: Over the past 25 years, every incumbent, except two, have been re-elected. That’s just not the best way to run our government. Let’s make room for new ideas and new energy.
